About BSMC

Who We Are

The Baltimore Shambhala Meditation Center offers a place where people can learn mindfulness awareness meditation in order to conduct the activities of their everyday life The Baltimore Shambhala Meditation Centerwith wisdom, compassion, and a sense of humor. We offer classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced students taught by senior meditation practitioners and guest teachers.

Programs and Studies

Programs and studies offered at the Center fall under one of three categories (called Gates): the Buddhist Gate which focuses on the 2500 year old teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha and the commentaries and further teachings of Tibetan Buddhist masters of the Kagyu and Nyingma lineages, the Shambhala Gate which offers a secular, yet profound approach to mindfulness in everyday life, and the Nalanda Gate which presents varied secular disciplines and activities that integrate the arts, health, education and business.

Shambhala International

The Baltimore Shambhala Meditation Center is part of Shambhala International, a world wide network of meditation centers founded by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, a master of the Shambhala and Buddhist traditions. Shambhala International is now directed by his son, the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.
