About Our Fees
The Baltimore Shambhala Center depends on income from member dues, program fees, book sales and cash donations. It's how we pay rent and other bills, maintain an uplifted space for regular sitting, bring in special teachers and offer all our programs. Our survival now and planning for the future depend on the money we receive from these sources.
Unique and Special
This Center offers our sangha and the greater Baltimore community something unique and very special. We want everyone, regardless of financial resources, to feel welcome at all its programs and events. No one should feel he or she can not participate because of limited income. At the same time, the Center needs those who benefit from it to do what they can to help keep it alive and growing.
Paying for Courses and Activities
There is a requested donation for most courses and activities at the Center, Thursday's Open House and Sunday Sitting excluded. If you can pay the full amount (or more), we need you do so. If you can't, we ask you to be generous in contributing what you can. We trust you to decide how much, if anything, you can afford.
Contributing Time and Energy
Please also consider contributing your time and energy, especially if you are a person who frequents the center often. It's a wonderful opportunity to practice the teachings and to really feel a part of the Shambhala community. It's also often a lot of fun! The Center does not have paid staff. All the work gets done by people like you. If you would like to help, talk to your course teacher, a meditation instructor or one of the Center Directors about what you might be able to do. There are many ways to be involved.
We're glad you are a part of the life of the Center and hope you take advantage of all it has to offer!
