Nalanda Gate

Culture, Education and Art in Everyday Living

"There is such a thing as unconditional expression that does not come from self or other. It manifests out of nowhere like mushrooms in a meadow, like thundershowers." - Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche
Interested in Ikebana? If you're interested in lessons in Japanese flower arranging and/or would like to help with flowers at the Shambhala Center on a regular basis, please contact Judy Bond at Arthurbond@aol.com.

At the core of the Nalanda Gate offerings at Shambhala Centers are teachings about the creative process given to us by Shambhala Center founder Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. These Shambhala Art teachings have to do with the insight aspect of meditation practice that is uncovered after some stability and calm abiding has been cultivated on one's meditation cushion. They are applicable to any situation in our daily lives that requires a creative solution so everyone is invited whether you consider yourself an artist or not, and no artistic training or talent is required.

Some Nalanda related events may include dharma art, ikebana flower arranging, calligraphy, mudra space awareness, contemplative psychology, maitri space awareness, sarapashana, and contemplative education.
